The Westland Lynx!

Here we have a problem.
It seems that nobody makes a nice cheap model of a Lynx in 1/48 scale.

What a shame!

Revel do a 1/48 scale Seaking - and there are decal sets to turn it into a Royal Navy one. But really a Lynx would be much better. Of course the second problem is I want it to fly.

I have experimented with a 1:32 scale EC135 body shell and a twister radio controlled helicopter.

This should be about the same size as a 1:48 Lynx.

This has been fairly successful. It flies well despite the extra weight and although the battery is quite unsightly underneath the main thing that spoils it is the contra- rotating main rotor. This is essential for stability in such a very small model.

One thought is to use a more 'gunship' type helicopter as real ones do exist that use a twin contra rotating rotor system.

I would far prefer a Lynx!
