1)  The Power plant does not fit compromises the design.

2) I like the look of the front of the Oliver Hazard Perry Class.

3) A simpler shape.

Also - because I was lazy when I started this model I did not buy plans for a type 23 Frigate. Instead I used a smaller scale 1:200 model as a template. I modified the smaller model using fibreglass and car body filler and then used cross sections from this to make the big model. This of course means there is a bit of free play in the design of the ship. I suppose it is a bit of a disappointment that it is not a perfect scale model but maybe next time!

 I have modelled the bow on an Oliver Hazard Perry Class as below

I'm going to extend the bow slightly for better sea keeping and less resistance.

The bow will be slightly raised between the prow and the deck in front of the Vickers 4.5 inch gun - for better sea keeping.

I 'm also going to flatten the Sonar bulb to make it more of a flat spoon shape as below.
